After reading through some of the discussion pages, I feel like an amateur. I've been collecting since about 1987. I have probably 2000+ cars. Some on cards, most loose. I would love to come to the race personally, but due to work and finance I can't. Last couple of months, I've been holding races with my kids. It's a short track (about 10 feet) but they have fun. That's what it's all about.

portamick  RLC™# 3661

Yo Gang. DID YA HEAR THAT? Racin' with the kids is what it's all about! That's the point! Ten feet to fifty feet; whatever. It doesn't matter unless YOU'RE HAVING FUN! Way to go, 87!

19Mopar68  HWC™# 500730

Racing has made this hobby fun again for me over the past year or so.
Having kids racing with you is 100x more fun!
It's GREAT that you RI Hot Wheelers do so much for the kids, too!
Great dedication, guys-- I'm sure it means a lot more than you think to the kids!

kingcuda  RLC™# 979

Racing and having fun with the kids, that's what brought me back to the hobby. My grandson loves to race and watch the cars go down the track, we can play for hours on end and never get bored! His joy and excitement is what led to me holding the monthly races here on the site and I think this has drawn a lot of folks back to the hobby and collecting... or at least that's what they tell me.

Good luck to everyone in tomorrow night's RIHW Club race, I know I'm hoping the cars I sent at least put up a good showing!

I'm planning on being the someone else.

jimbo32  RLC™# 47106

Hey... so am I!

19Mopar68  HWC™# 500730

Well, I was planning on winning too... Maybe I'll just have to settle for the Datsun losing!

jim lombari  RLC™# 2594

This has been a blast! Tomorrow night is almost here and the racing will be great. All the winners and times will be posted. We will label all the out-of-state cars and send them back with their times... and maybe even a trophy.

HATCHIT  HWC™# 472629

Well, race night is here! I will see most of you trackside. Again, I wish all of you who sent cars good luck!

Man, all you Datsun haters... I sometimes wonder if I have any fans out there. That's OK, there's not much room on my throne anyway.

19Mopar68  HWC™# 500730

Get your digs in while you can; your Datsun is going down!
Race night tonight! I'm excited!
Good luck to all the racers!

87toyotaman  HWC™# 500730

Hi all, kinda curious to see if Datsun comes out on top again. I told my kids about the race tonight and if the Datsun won again, that I was planning to send a few cars to compete against it next month. They got all excited and wanted to send some of theirs to compete. My daughter has one that is kinda wicked. When it hits the flat area it kinda speeds up. (Not saying what it is-- it's a secret!) So I'm kinda anxious to see the result. By the way, how many can one person enter?

Good luck to all racers, remember to have fun!

jim lombari  RLC™# 2594

You can enter up to 6 cars. Make them fast-- Datsun takes no prisoners! It's all about fun, so join us.

19Mopar68  HWC™# 500730

Honestly, I sent my cars to see if they have a chance against the Datsun. I'm also curious to know the times that my cars will post. But I mostly entered for the fun, and knowing that a few of my cars travelled to a different country for a race. Mine most likely will not even get to race the Datsun, but at least I will have a car that I know how fast it will go down the 50 foot track. Then I can work on beating my fastest car.

I don't think it will take a redline to beat the Datsun. It has regular axles, and it wins every time. It's just a one-in-a-million car.

Anyway, I've rambled long enough, good luck to everyone who entered tonight!

HATCHIT  HWC™# 472629

Yes, it was a great night at RI... In case you left early, Jim stole the show last night with his Side Kick beating the Datsun 2 of 3 times (I wanted to be the first to say it) and his NesQuik car taking the stock class. West Virginia had a great showing as well, winning race after race until the Nesquik car took him out. All the cars that were sent will be sent back with times on them.

RACE TILL THE WHEELS FALL OFF!!!

jimbo32  RLC™# 47106

"2 out of 3" only tells me one thing... the Datsun is belly up!!!

19Mopar68  HWC™# 500730

the Datsun is belly up!!!

I knew it was coming, and was pretty sure it wouldn't be me!
Congrats, Jim!

jim lombari  RLC™# 2594

First of all, let me say congratulations to all the racers at the March meeting. We raced well over 250 cars last night and many of you and our club members did very well. Cars from Michigan, West Virginia, New York, Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and even Canada were represented. I would be remiss to not thank my friend and great competitor, "Hatchit". Last night the redline Side Kick owned by myself beat the Datsun in a best-out-of-3 challenge, ending a very long reign. However, Hatchit also owns a Noodle Head that had a faster time than my Side Kick...

I feel better that we found a Hot Wheels car that could take back the crown. Mark aka Hatchit is a true champion and I'm not taking this victory very well; we love speed and we need to find more cars to challenge our speedway and our club. This thread and this hobby is sensational and I would like nothing more than to see the rest of the country join in the fun. If you would like to take on either Hatchit or the Datsun at our monthly meetings or at Summer Smash get your cars ready.

For all of you that sent cars from out of state, I will tell you the cars from West Virginia were quick-- the 308 Ferrari and the gold F40 took out many cars. Jimbo from Michigan had a very fast Way 2 Fast with FTE's. All your cars will be tagged with the times on the roof and will be shipped back to you in the morning. Thank you very much for competing! It was a blast!

19Mopar68  HWC™# 500730

Congrats to all the winners, and everyone who participated. It looks like you all had a great night. I wish I'd been there; someday I will be. Also, I will definitely be sending more cars to join the fun. Great pics Jim, and thanks for the update.

Thanks for letting me participate, even if I couldn't be there, it was still fun. The cars I sent will now be proudly displayed on the top shelf!

rsx-s-02  RLC™# 24281

Great job, Jim! Now if we could only get a Ferrari in the top seat!

kingcuda  RLC™# 979

Way to go, Jim! Putting a HW back on top feels good, doesn't it!

Hats off to everyone else that sent in cars and participated in the races.

Mark, I guess you'll be looking for some payback now in trying to re-capture your title... A big tip of the cap to ya for holding on as long as you did with that Datsun.

Looks like I may have had a fairly decent night with my Ferraris and put West Virginia back on the map. Now I'll have to see if I can make a 50 foot track fit in the basement and go back to testing some more cars. I've got boxes of Ferraris, funny cars and more to test and will find something else for sure to send for a future race.

Wish I could have been there and certainly would like to try and attend a future event to meet all you great people and check out one of these awesome RIHW club events. Again, thanks to everyone for stayin' up late to run this race; you guys are great!

WTG Jim!  May send a car or two for next months race!

jmorin  HWC™# 503124

Congrats Jim on your win. I think this has been awesome, reading all these threads coming in from all over and I am proud to say that the Lincoln Johnny Lightning Race Club started this by having the all-out diecast race Feb 16th 2008, where the Datsun made its debut. This is just an awesome hobby and I wish I was there last night to see all that racing. Hats off to Hatchit for keeping this thing going as long as it did. I am pretty confident that there won't be another car that will go that long without losing. What we all saw over the last year was very cool. That's what makes this hobby even better. Thanks, Hatchit and Jim, for creating the challenge! Great job, Rhode Island Hot Wheels Club, as always.

87toyotaman  HWC™# 500730

Way to go Jim, wish I could have been there. Sounded like it was a lot of fun. Been doing some testing, to pick out a few cars to send for next month's races. Trying to make plans to be there, maybe in June with the family. Hope to meet you all in person soon.

jimbo32  RLC™# 47106

Glad to hear you did so well Jim, you really do deserve the win. So go ahead and start some bragging!

jim lombari  RLC™# 2594

Thanks Jimbo... I'll tell you what I will brag about: I have good friends in this club and around the country, and that's something to brag about. Thanks for being a part of it all!

steve1965  RLC™# 43931

Hey, Jim! Had a great time as usual on Tuesday and am already scouring the web, Hot Wheels racks and my old boxes of HWs looking for more cars to race! I am going to win a race next month!

On a completely different topic: I saw last year's Make A Wish kid "Stephen" on the Channel 10 News "Health Check" tonight. Stephen, his mom and his little brother were on, talking about giving blood and how blood transfusions saved his life many times over the past 3 years. His mom said that he was done with chemo and so far he is cured of cancer! It's great knowing this! Not only do we have fun at the RIHWC, but we help great kids like Stephen and Make A Wish!

jim lombari  RLC™# 2594

Thanks, Steve! Yes, it's a lot more than cars and racing. We do a lot for the community and I'm glad you and all our great members are taking part, and let everyone know what our club is all about. Thanks!
Jim
